Groovy Green is dyed with indigo, then overdyed with apple bark or turmeric or weld. These yellows vary in strength and availability so I used one that is suited to the strength of the indigo on any given day. Because of this the shade can vary. I will always let you know if I don’t have identical dye lots for your order. If not, it’s easy enough to make a whole batch just for you!
I switched over from black beans to indigo in the late summer of 2017 and have been slowly converting ALL my blues and greens. Indigo is light-fast and washes well. I treat it with two finishing steps after dyeing. First I soak it in a vinegar-water bath to balance the PH, a standard process. Next I soak the yarn in Eucalan to soften and condition the yarn.
