Dye Classes:
3 1/2 and 5 Hour Dye Workshops at My Studio: 7019 Deer Valley Road, Highland MD 20777
Each class consists of 3 1/2 hours starting at 10 am. (Except one class which will be longer.) You do not need to bring anything except perhaps an apron if you like. I will provide, gloves, dye material, equipment, yarn, and ziplock bags to take home the yarn you dye. Class sizes are small: 3-6 people. If there is time, we can visit the garden railroad and my yarn studio and store.
The cost of $120 ($150 for the longer class) includes 4 hanks of yarn, each 50g. Which weight yarn we use can depend on the class. I offer typically Fingering, Sport, DK, or Worsted. So with me, you will dye 4 hanks of yarn in 3 solids and 1 multi-colored. Then you will take them home! If you are interested in dyeing fleece, I can also provide you with some fleece to dye and take home.
Register by emailing me at artylinda6@gmail.com. Then send me $120 ($150 for the longer class) by PayPal (Use my phone number: 301-821-7232) or by check, send to the same address above. Please call if you have any questions.

You need to have some experience to join this class. I will assume you have already taken a natural dye class from me or someone else. We will go into 3 different techniques of making multicolored yarns: folding, twisting, and dipping. Each one gives a different effect, and sometimes they are combined. We will discuss color combinations and how to come up with various analogous or contrasting colorways. You will go home with 4 different hanks of multicolored yarns! Colors used will include logwood (purple), indigo (blue), osage (yellow), lac, (maroon), and cochineal (red.) There will be an extra $20 material fee for this class.
Foraged Dyes……berries, nuts, and flowers.
10-1:30 on Saturday, September 21
Activities include learning about foraging pokeberries (red and fuchia), black walnuts (brown), and flowers (yellow and orange.) We’ll process the pokeberries, dye with pokeberries, walnuts and flowers, and finally make one multicolored yarn with 2 colors of your choice.
